India has set a target of electrifying all households by Q1 2019. That will require 10x growth in the pace of new connections, says Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF)
India has more than 40 million households, mostly rural, living without electricity. Its new Saubhagya plan aims to remedy that, but it will require increasing new monthly connections from 300,000 per month to 3.3 million per month. How it gets there, and the exact role of distributed solutions such as mini-grids and solar home systems, remains unclear.
