October Campaign Activities
NAIROBI, 30 September-02 October: IOREC
Christine Eibs-Singer, Director of Global Advocacy, will speak at the IOREC conference in Nairobi. The conference convenes diverse stakeholders and facilitates dialogue to highlight challenges and solutions to rural electrification through off-grid renewable energy systems.
GOROMONZI, 1 October: Solar Fair
Power for All and partners host a solar fair in Goromozi District, Zimbabwe. Civil society organizations and social enterprises join with Representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Power Development and local farming groups to showcase solar solutions, including those focussed on lighting, heating and agriculture.
GWERU, BULAWAYO, MUTARE 6 ,7, 20 October: Renewable Energy Association of Zimbabwe (REAZ) workshop
Power for All will help to coordinate the next REAZ outreach and business planning workshop. The workshop will engage potential members and provide a platform for private companies to input into REAZ position and recommendations for the Renewable Energy Policy which is currently under development as well as further develop advocacy plans around key policies to accelerate energy access.
WASHINGTON DC, 7-9 October: World Bank Annual Meeting
Power for All will be participating in side events during the World Bank Annual Meeting to highlight the importance of decentralized renewables in financing energy access and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Please get in touch if you are attending the event and would like to connect.
ABUJA, 09-11 October: 22nd Nigerian Economic Summit
Power for All Campaign Lead in Nigeria, Ify Malo, will be participating in the Nigerian Economic Summit. The Summit is the largest annual event for public and private sector policy makers and industry leaders in Nigeria. Please get in touch if you are attending the event and would like to connect.
LONDON, 12 October: UK Launch, Poor People’s Energy Outlook 2016
Campaign Partner Practical Action will launch their latest Poor People’s Energy Outlook at the UK Parliament House of Lords. The report provides new research into the energy needs of low-income communities and highlights how the current approach to energy planning will not enable us to meet the needs of the poorest.
ABUJA, 19-21 October: Nigeria Alternative Energy Expo
Power for All and its partners will be hosting a booth at the Nigeria Alternative Energy Expo to profile some of the decentralized solutions driving energy access in the country. Make sure you come and see us if you are attending the event, or contact us to arrange a meeting.
HARARE, 25 October (tbc): Access to Finance Workshop
A workshop will be held to share information on the decentralized renewables opportunity with local micro-finance institutions, financiers and private sector companies in the DRE space in order to drive investment into the market to drive energy access.
HARARE, 27 October (tbc): Field Visit
Power for All will be accompanied by Government Ministers on a field to visit projects and work undertaken by some of its partners in Zimbabwe, enabling key officials to see the impact of decentralized renewables first hand.
September Highlight: Ministries, Departments and Agencies Workshop, Nigeria
In one of our biggest events yet, Power for All brought together nearly 70 participants from 25 Nigerian Ministries, Departments and Agencies to discuss how to scale the decentralized renewables market, address sector challenges and improve intra-government coordination to accelerate energy access.
