She speaks with Aashna Aggarwal, Development and Partnerships Manager at Power for All, on her journey into the DRE sector and the importance of gender equity in energy access.
Jenny notes the renewable sector has undergone an evolution over the years. In the early days, it was seen as socially relevant and environmental friendly and that drew diverse people to the sector. Therefore as the sector grows and is attracting more money, there has to be deliberate efforts to ensure gender diversity. There’s still a lot of conscious choices to be made to make that happen!
She says the renewable energy sector must make use of the existing suite of gender mainstreaming tools for women's empowerment to promote diversity and inclusion.
